      Wheat
Ukraine is quickly becoming a major wheat exporter because of a combination of competitive advantages that are hard to beat. Additional market experience could lead to further growth, especially as infrastructure is upgraded and production rebounds from current depressed levels.
In 2003, global per capita wheat consumption was 67 kg, with the highest per capita consumption found in MENA Region.
Exports in recent months have been very strong, majority of which are distributed to the Mediterranean markets.

    Barley
Ukraine, which is the world's second-largest barley exporter expects overseas grain sales to triple in the next marketing year. Barley Exports are raised 0.4 million tons with a 1.5-million-ton increase for Ukraine.
Food, seed, and industrial use is raised 100 million bushels with higher expected use for ethanol supported by favorable ethanol producer returns and strong incentives for ethanol blending. Exports are projected 150 million bushels higher reflecting reduced foreign production prospects and stronger expected import demand from Mexico and Taiwan.
Sales to Saudi Arabia (which accounts for half of Ukraine's total barley shipments) continue to strengthen year by year.

    Corn
Corn use for 2009/10 is projected higher with rising supplies and lower expected prices. Prospects for livestock production, feed and residual use is raised 100 million bushels with the higher yield and production expected to add. Corn is the third important feed grain in Ukraine.
Exports should trend higher with rising world demand and increasing world trade. Ukraine Corn export demand was raised by 200,000 tons, bringing the country's total to 2.3 million tons. This was based on higher production and heavy sales to North Africa and Middle East

Iran barley is up by 275,000 tons, bringing import total to 1.125 million tons
    »
Saudi Arabia barley is up by 500,000 tons to bring their import total to 6.5 million tons
    »
Turkey is increased by 50,000 tons, bringing import total to 300,000 tons
    »
With the Middle East and North African regions importing up to a total of 29.8 million tons of wheat and a consumption total of almost 82.5 million tons, meeting the demands of the MENA region seems to be an insurmountable task
    »
But Ukraine, by itself, was able to export 5.5 million tons and produce 19 million tons of wheat, covering 24% production and 18% export demand
